This time next saturday i will be knee-deep in a 4 day tour. I am going with two cycling chums, Steve and Graham. Our last cycling expedition together was to Ventoux. This one could even be a bit tougher; Graham is an audax monster and has been planning epic days in the saddle. the first day is a 125 mile schlep from Bristol to Dartmoor, ending up with the 3.5 mile climb of Haytor. the day features something like 8000 feet of climbing. the ensuing days are slightly shorter, between 70 and 90 miles, with around 7000 feet of climbing on each day. We will be taking in the north cornwall coast, then up and across North Devon, over Exmoor and home.
it will be scenic and beautiful, but undoubtedly quite painful for the legs. on my return i am going to have another go at a 100 mile time trial. here are the three brave warriors after our assault on le geant de provence:
i am looking forward to the adventure. we are going to be travelling light and staying in youth hostels. I am taking the mercian with a carradice saddlebag, and maybe a bar bag.
the pictures are very Timm Kolln 😉
yeah. that was kind of calculated… post ventoux, writing our own myths or something…
