Victoria Park Criteriums

Some lovely archive footage taken from the Victoria Park cycle races in Bath in 1959. The red haired chap putting the hammer down on the front is George Keene. The same legendary, awe-inspiring George Keene who still races now and is in the film below asking for tub glue. Other riders at Vicky Park include Bill Boyd and John Kempe.

Which is also where this really amazing bit of footage is taken, from the Goram fair in 1959.  BSCC riders include John Kempe, Chris Holloway and Pete Baldwin.

If anyone recognises other riders feel free to get in touch or leave a comment. The Super 8 footage is richly evocative. I have a grass track reel from the same year that I will post tomorrow.

Is Hengrove the same place they moved Ashton Court festival to when Foot and Mouth had the countryside cordoned off?
