I’m planning a saddlebag tour into the Brecon Beacons this August. It’s quite exciting, I haven’t done one for about 2 years. In the meantime I’ve been bombarded by friends’ photos of their epic jaunts and hostelling expeditions. I think i can squeeze in about 400 miles of riding with maybe 25,000 feet of climbing in the four days.
It’s hardly the 518 miles Stuart Birnie (aka Hippy) managed in the recent National 24 hour Time Trial Championships; the faster version of touring with added tribars. I can’t begin to comprehend riding from Bristol to Aberdeen in 24 hours. Well done chap.
