Tough, tiring weeks

It’s been hard to maintain training this past two weeks. i’ve managed it, but only just. It has involved some unseemly and unpleasant 6am rides up and over Dundry. It’s difficult to do anything at 6.02am, let alone ride hard on a really steep hill whilst carrying spare pants, socks and lunch for a day at work.

The shift in the seasons as Autumn approaches has been noticeable. It’s been getting darker each day, with the temperature oscillating. I’ve opted for knee and armwarmers, surely a sign that hill climb season is here. There are some panaceas; in amongst the hard work and relentlessness of riding hard and working hard have been some transient and yet lasting moments of beauty as the morning gently shakes the countryside into life.

I used a really old iphone so the pictures are a bit crummy, but you get the general idea. It’s the best time of the day.
