After months of cyclonic misery, today’s sunshine seemed somehow anomalous; a quirk of nature amidst the normality of rain, wind and hail. It was timely; the district time trial season started somewhere on an A road near Frome; but also timely insofar as it reminded me of the simple pleasures of riding a bike and not getting utterly drenched, blown across the road or pushed backward, relentlessly, by invisible elemental forces.
I had planned on a big ride yesterday, that was scuppered. I aimed for a short ride today, with 2 hours to play with. I managed to join the club run for the first hour before chipping off and riding home. The big ride will have to wait until the rains return.
